Have you ever thought about opening your own screen printing business? It is pretty cheap to begin a t-shirt printing business at home. I read about one guy who began a screen printing business with almost nothing. He made the frames with used wood, and used fabric from an old wedding dress for the screens. He began printing and selling signs. He also printed magnets, shirts, and baseball caps. He actually designed and built his own 4 color screen printing press.

You could start your own screen printing company and it wouldn't be to tough or pricey. It would cost under $100 to obtain the stuff to screen print t-shirts. The absolute minimum equipment you would need would be a frame, photo emulsion, a cheap light, ink, a squeegee, masking tape, and shirts. For another one hundred dollars , you could get a single shirt screen printing press. You could even opt to build your own press.

And you can improve your equipment as your company gets bigger. Screen printing a tee shirt only uses pennies worth of ink for each shirt. You can get blank shirts on sale at Michaels for $3-4 each, or you can purchase them in quantity for less. You can acquire box lots of shirts on eBay. Some places that you could run your company would be your garage or basement.

One thing that you could do would be to design and print shirts to sell on eBay. If that is what you are interested in doing, look on eBay and find what manner of shirts people are buying. Are they buying and selling shirt of dogs, cats, silly slogans, etc.? Create your own original artwork, print a few of shirts, and list them on eBay. While it will cost you a few dollars per shirt, it will only cost a couple cents to print them, and it will be possible to sell them on eBay for $10-$15.

Local rock bands, sports teams and family reunions offer some other opportunities for your screen printing business. If anybody you know needs shirts printed, offer your services for a small profit. Doing a good quality job is essential. More than likely, after you have done a couple jobs, you will begin getting business referrals by word of mouth. You can always get some business cards printed up, and post them on bulletin boards in your area advertising custom printed t-shirts.

Screen printing is a printing process that makes use of a woven mesh to hold an ink-blocking stencil. The attached stencil outlines the open areas of the mesh that transfer ink in the form of a sharp-edged image on the surface that is to be printed and this surface is called substrate.
